‘Perception’ on Display at UW Gallery 234

September 26, 2016

Artwork from University of Wyoming student Hannah Hughes is on display through Thursday, Oct. 6, in Gallery 234, located in the lower level of the Wyoming Union.

The reception for “Perception” will be held Thursday, Sept. 29, from 6-8 p.m. The event is free and open to the public. 7220 Entertainment Fine Arts and Lectures Committee sponsors Gallery 234.

Hughes, a UW visual arts program senior, enjoys all disciplines of visual art, but lately has focused mainly on a series of self-portraits expressing different elements of her bipolar disorder and a narrative on how she examines the concepts of self.

Her goal is to create a discussion on how bipolar and other disorders are interpreted. Hughes says she will share her personal interactions with her disorder to give viewers a look at how a real person has coped through the printmaking process.
