‘Choral Collage’ Concert at UW Nov. 4

The University of Wyoming choirs will present a fall “Choral Collage” concert Friday, Nov. 4, at 7:30 p.m. in the Buchanan Center for the Performing Arts concert hall.

Tickets cost $10 for the public; $7 for senior citizens, UW faculty and staff; and $6 for students. Tickets are available at the Performing Arts box office and the Wyoming Union information desk, by calling (307) 766-6666 or going online at www.uwyo.edu/finearts.

“Choral Collage” will feature UW’s Collegiate Chorale, Bel Canto women’s choir, Happy Jacks and the Singing Statesmen.

The concert is in conjunction with the Rocky Mountain Festival of Voices, featuring high school students from around the state and region. Students will join UW choir members for a day of rehearsals, workshops and performances.

The 2016 Outstanding Wyoming Choral Music Educator award will be presented to Katrina Rooney, Casper’s Kelly Walsh High School choir director.

Bel Canto women’s choir, directed by Holly Dalrymple, will present “Pieces,” with the theme of uniting people through singing. The Singing Statesmen, directed by Nicole Lamartine, will present Estonian folk tunes and a rock reinvention of a Gregorian chant.

The Happy Jacks will add variety and pizazz with arrangements of contemporary pop tunes. The Collegiate Chorale will offer a piece by Eric Whitacre, “Little Man in a Hurry,” featuring Lisa Rickard on piano.
