Campus Construction Update for March 4

These are among the construction activities scheduled March 4-10 at the University of Wyoming:

Colder Weather Advisory (UW Operations) -- UW Operations asks building occupants to assist with ensuring buildings and facilities are safe and secure. Make sure all windows and doors are completely closed with windows latched at the end of each day, and report any doors or windows that you are unable to close and secure to the Service Desk (766-6225).

Snow Removal (UW Operations) -- Crews will remove snow as needed throughout the season. Watch for snow-removal equipment; be careful and safe during snow events. Call the Service Desk (766-6225) to report icy spots and problem areas.

Wyoming State Vet Lab (Laramie Mechanical and Heating Systems, Laramie) -- The fan on the roof has been installed. The contractor is working inside the lab to add ventilation to the acid cabinets. Please be cautious near the crews.

Willett Pit Pumping Station/Willett Drive (UW Operations) -- UW Operations will continue to excavate and repair existing broken steam condensate lines. Barricades will be in place. Please be cautious near the crews.

UW Campus Greenhouse/Willett Drive (UW Operations) -- UW Operations will excavate and repair the steam condensate mainline to the campus greenhouse. Repairs, which began Feb. 22, will be made on the south side of Willett Drive across from the greenhouse. Barricades will be in place. Please be cautious near the crews.

Wyoming Union Third Floor, Veterans Services Center (Shepard Construction; summer 2019) -- Demolition and reconstruction will continue on the third floor through July. The south end of the west wing will be impacted primarily by the noise for the next few weeks. Exterior project staging is on the southwest side of the Wyoming Union. Please be cautious around crews and equipment in this area, and observe all construction signs.

Knight Hall (UW Operations, June 2018) -- The southwest entrance portico will continue to be closed intermittently for partial ceiling replacement. Insulation will be added to prevent piping from freezing. Please observe barricades, and use caution near the construction area.

Physical Sciences Building (Arcon Inc., Laramie) -- Selective demolition and framing continue for the new WWAMI cadaver lab in rooms 338, 340 and 341. Expect mechanical and electrical work on the second and fourth floors in adjacent corridors, labs and mechanical rooms to support the project.

Engineering Education and Research Building (EERB) (Construction manager GE Johnson Construction Wyoming LLC, Casper; spring 2019) -- Installation of the stone veneer is underway. Concrete block is being placed to form the pilasters around the building. Exterior and interior metal stud framing and drywall are underway. Mechanical/electrical/plumbing rough-ins are underway. Roofing is underway. Please steer clear of heavy equipment or delivery trucks parked on city streets. Please observe all construction signs.

Agriculture C and Engineering Addition Buildings (Summit Sealants, Montrose, Colo.; July 2018) -- Painting, caulking and minor repairs to the exteriors of Agriculture and Engineering will be ongoing through the winter, as weather permits.

Central Energy Plant (Arcon Inc., Laramie; May 2018) -- Construction fence is set up around the work area. The sidewalk on the west side of 19th Street may be closed, and 19th Street will be blocked occasionally. Please be cautious of crews and equipment in the area.

Merica Hall (UW Operations, Paint Shop) -- The UW Paint Shop has begun to paint the hallways and restrooms at Merica Hall. Please be cautious in these areas.

White Hall (UW Operations; June 2018) – The project is on hold until spring when a new insulated door will be added to the south stairwell, and soffit masonry and paint finishing will be completed.

IT Building (UW Operations) -- A temporary chiller is in place on the north side of the building for backup cooling. Please be cautious of crews and equipment in the area.

Education Annex (Gem City Roofing, Plumbing Co., Laramie; March 2018) -- Modifications to drain the west-side Literacy Center canopy roof to prevent slip hazards will be ongoing, weather permitting. Please use caution, and observe signs around the construction area.

Knight Hall (Big Horn Roofing, Laramie) -- South-center entrance roofs will be replaced, weather permitting. Entrances will remain open and will require one day each to complete. Additional and replacement pavers will be installed on the roofs. Please use caution, and observe signs around the construction area.

Corbett Building (UW Operations Shops; Arcon Inc., Laramie; January 2018) -- Masonry work to access the outside air chase for damper and insulation modifications, to reduce sub-zero freezing and improve comfort in Room 206, will begin. Please use caution, and observe signs around the construction area. Work is scheduled during spring break.

Downey Hall (UW Structural Trades; June 2018) -- Initial phases of east-side soffit modifications and insulation addition, and access to add heat to the west-side soffit will be accomplished, weather permitting. A new insulated door will be added in the east stairwell. Please use caution around work activities, and observe signs around the construction area.

Mick and Susie McMurry High Altitude Performance Center (Construction manager at risk GE Johnson Construction Wyoming LLC, Jackson; June 2018) -- Drywall hanging/finishing, painting, tile and all other interior finishes are in progress. All access to and egress from the Rochelle Athletic Center will be limited to the west weight room doors across from the Fieldhouse North. The weight room will be the only occupied area in the existing building until the phased turnover begins, which was at the end of January. Traffic control, signs and barricades will be in place at the building interior and exterior during this process. Please use caution when near the project, and observe all construction signs.

Beta House, North Exterior (UW Operations) -- The loading dock and stairs will be rebuilt. Equipment Services will demolish the damaged portions of the loading dock and stairs, and the door to the loading dock will be closed. Please be cautious around crews and equipment in this area, and observe all construction signs.
