University of Wyoming Calendar for Aug. 20

These are among the activities scheduled Aug. 20-26 at the University of Wyoming:

Tuesday, Aug. 21, 7 p.m. -- UW Planetarium full-dome movie, “From Earth to the Universe.” Tickets cost $3 for students and $4 for non-students, Physical Sciences Building basement. Advance tickets are available in the Physical Sciences Building, Room 204, or by going online at www.uwyo.edu/physics/ and clicking on “Planetarium Schedule.”

Thursday, Aug. 23, 5:30 p.m. -- To mark the 25th anniversary of UW’s Haub School and Ruckelshaus Institute of Environment and Natural Resources, a panel discussion, “Civility: The Case for Collaboration,” will take place at the Marian H. Rochelle Gateway Center. Free.

Friday, Aug. 24, noon -- Cowgirl volleyball vs. University of North Florida, Arena-Auditorium. Ticket prices vary.

Friday, Aug. 24, 4:30 p.m. -- Cowgirl soccer vs. University of Northern Iowa, Louis S. Madrid Sports Complex. Free.

Friday, Aug. 24, 7 p.m. -- Cowgirl volleyball vs. Oral Roberts University, Arena-Auditorium. Ticket prices vary.

Friday, Aug. 24, 8 p.m. -- UW Planetarium show, “Wonders of the Ancient Skies.” Tickets cost $3 for students and $4 for non-students, Physical Sciences Building basement. Advance tickets are available in the Physical Sciences Building, Room 204, or by going online at www.uwyo.edu/physics/ and clicking on “Planetarium Schedule.”

Friday, Aug. 24, 8 p.m. -- The Cowboy Summer Movie Series concludes with “Wonder” at War Memorial Stadium. Free popcorn and water will be provided. No outside food, drinks or chairs will be allowed. Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets and pillows. Free.

Saturday, Aug. 25, 8 a.m. -- The annual household item giveaway for international students attending UW will take place in the parking and circle drive area south of the Cheney International Center. Donations can be dropped off between 7-7:45 a.m.

Saturday, Aug. 25, 9 a.m. -- The UW Nordic ski team will host its annual “Trash 2 Treasures” fundraiser in the War Memorial Fieldhouse. A $5 early bird admission will be at 8 a.m.

Saturday, Aug. 25, 10 a.m. -- “Highpoint Editions: Contemporary Prints” will open at the UW Art Museum. Free.

Saturday, Aug. 25-Sunday, Aug. 26 -- The UW Department of Theatre and Dance will present “Dancing between Earth and Sky: Vertical Dance at Vedauwoo.” The Aug. 25 performances will be at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. The Aug. 26 performance will start at 11 a.m. General admission tickets -- for people, as well as dogs -- are $8 in advance. They can be purchased by calling (307) 766-6666; going online at www.uwyo.edu/finearts; or by visiting the Buchanan Center for the Performing Arts box office, Tuesday through Friday, from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

Saturday, Aug. 25, 11 a.m. -- UW Planetarium show, “How We Reclassified Pluto.” Tickets cost $3 for students and $4 for non-students, Physical Sciences Building basement. Advance tickets are available in the Physical Sciences Building, Room 204, or by going online at www.uwyo.edu/physics/ and clicking on “Planetarium Schedule.”

Saturday, Aug. 25, 7 p.m. -- Cowgirl volleyball vs. University of Colorado, Arena-Auditorium. Ticket prices vary.

Dinosaur skeletons, ancient mammal fossils and other exhibits are on display in the UW Geological Museum. The museum is open Mondays through Saturdays from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Free.

The UW Department of Botany’s Williams Conservatory is open to the public Mondays through Fridays from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Free.
