Monday, April 29, 9 a.m. -- The Wyoming Center on Aging, based at UW, hosts a health workshop for people with chronic health conditions and their friends, family and caregivers. The workshop will be at the Eppson Center for Seniors, located at 1560 N. Third St. in Laramie. Free.
Monday, April 29, noon -- The UW departments of Geology and Geophysics and Ecosystem Science and Management present Jeffrey Post, curator of the U.S. National Gem and Mineral Collection at the Smithsonian Institution. He will discuss “The Hope Diamond and Smithsonian National Gem Collection” in the S.H. Knight Geology Building, Room 216. Free.
Monday, April 29, 3:10 p.m. -- The UW Department of Geology and Geophysics Distinguished Lecturer Series presents Michael Cheadle, an associate professor in the department. He will discuss “Exploring the Water Hemisphere” in the S.H. Knight Geology Building, Room 216. A reception will follow in the UW Geological Museum. Free.
Monday, April 29, 5:30 p.m. -- “The Anonymous People” will be screened in the Half Acre Recreation and Wellness Center, Room 115. The documentary explores the social stigmas associated with addiction. The Collegiate Recovery Program and the UW Wellness Center host the event. Free.
Monday, April 29, 7 p.m. -- Derek Minor and Canon, both Christian rap artists, will perform in the UW College of Education auditorium. Tickets to the event are free, but are required. Tickets can be picked up at the Chi Alpha table in the Wyoming Union breezeway April 29 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m.
Monday, April 29, 7:30 p.m. -- The UW Department of Music presents a faculty recital, featuring Theresa Bogard, piano, and John Fadial, violin, in the Buchanan Center for the Performing Arts recital hall. Free.
Tuesday, April 30, 12:20 p.m. -- The UW Division of Kinesiology and Health’s Intellectual Community Seminar Series presents Geoffrey Bingham, a professor in the Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences at Indiana University. He will discuss “Now for Something Completely Different: Frequency Scaling of 90˚ Coordination.” The talk will take place in the Corbett Building, Room 137. Free.
Tuesday, April 30, 7 p.m. -- Kristan Hawkins, president of Students for Life of America, will talk about “Lies Feminists Tell.” Her talk will be in the UW College of Education auditorium. Students for Life at UW, a recognized student organization, will sponsor the event. Free.
Tuesday, April 30, 7 p.m. -- UW Harry C. Vaughan Planetarium full-dome movie, “IBEX: Search for the Edge of the Solar System.” Tickets cost $3 for students and $4 for non-students, Physical Sciences Building basement. Tuesday, April 30-Saturday, May 4, 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, May 5, 2 p.m. -- The UW Department of Theatre and Dance will end its 2018-19 season with “The Robber Bridegroom.” The bluegrass musical will be performed on the Performing Arts main stage. Tickets to the April 30 performance cost $4.50 for the public, senior citizens and students. Tickets May 1-5 cost $14 for the public, $11 for senior citizens and $7 for students. Tuesday, April 30, 7:30 p.m. -- Director Jean-Luc Godard’s classic French film “Contempt” (“Le Mépris,” 1963) will be screened in the Classroom Building, Room 129. The film contains nudity, violence and language that may not be suitable for all audiences. The event is sponsored by the UW Classics program, with support of UW Libraries and the UW Department of Modern and Classical Languages. RSVP by emailing delozier@uwyo.edu. Free.
Wednesday, May 1, 12:10-12:50 p.m. -- The UW Art Museum will host “Lunchtime Conversations with Curators.” Nicole Crawford, chief curator of the UW Art Museum, will guide visitors on a gallery walk-through of the exhibition “The Dorothy and Herbert Vogel Collection: Fifty Works for Wyoming.” Lunch will be provided following the gallery walk-through. Free.
Wednesday, May 1, 7 p.m. -- An art show and poetry slam will take place in The Gardens, located in the lower level of the Wyoming Union. The art show is at 7 p.m., and the poetry slam will begin at 8 p.m. Only UW students can submit artwork or present poetry, but the public is invited to attend. Free.
Thursday, May 2, 1 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. -- UW’s Student Art League will host visiting artist Chris Musina for a workshop at 1 p.m. Attendees should meet in the lobby of the Visual Arts Building. At 6:30 p.m., Musina will give a lecture in the Visual Arts Building, Room 111. Musina specializes in painting, drawing and sculpture. Free.
Thursday, May 2, 7 p.m. -- StudioWYO hosts musical artists Spangler and Sunnydale High in The Gardens, located in the lower level of the Wyoming Union. Free.
Thursday, May 2, 7:30 p.m. -- The UW Symphony Orchestra will perform with Daniel Hsu, the 2017 Van Cliburn International Piano Competition bronze medal winner. The performance will take place in the Performing Arts concert hall. Tickets cost $12 for the public, $8 for senior citizens and $6 for students. Friday, May 3, 4:10 p.m. -- Alexander Deiters, from the University of Pittsburgh, will present the 26th Rhoads-Raulins Lecture in Organic Chemistry in the Classroom Building, Room 222. He will discuss “Conditional Control of Biological Processes Using Chemical Tools.” A reception will be at 3 p.m. in the chemistry atrium, located on the fourth floor of the Physical Sciences Building. Friday, May 3, 4:30 p.m. -- Instructors from UW and community colleges around the state will gather to present their work as Learning Actively Mentoring Program (LAMP) fellows to the public at the UW Art Museum. The event will begin with a meet-and-greet, followed by a welcome from LAMP Director Rachel Watson. Half of the fellows will be available by their posters for questions and answers from 5-6 p.m., and the other half will be available from 6:15-7:15 p.m. Appetizers will be provided. Free.
Friday, May 3, 6 p.m. -- Lynne Boddy, a professor of microbial ecology in Cardiff University’s School of Biosciences, will speak at UW as part of the Department of Botany’s inaugural Martha Christensen Memorial Lectures. She will discuss “The Mysterious Hidden Kingdom -- Fungi” in UW’s Berry Biodiversity Conservation Center. A reception will follow her talk. Free.
Friday, May 3, 7 p.m. -- UW’s 7220 Entertainment Films Committee will host the Student Short Film Festival in the Wyoming Union Family Room. Food will be provided. Free.

Saturday, May 4, 8 a.m. -- The UW Cycling Club will host the Schoolyard Spring Race. The mountain bike race is for collegiate competitors and community members to race on the “Schoolyard” trail system in Laramie. Saturday, May 4, 9 a.m. -- The Wyoming chapter of the Society of Physics Students will host a 5K to raise money for Women in Math, Science and Engineering (WiMSE). The race will start at the UW Physical Sciences Building, where last-minute registration also will take place. Saturday, May 4, 9 a.m. -- The Wyoming Student Society of Health-System Pharmacists will host the 19th annual Pharmacy Phrolic 5K, starting at Optimist Park. Registration for students costs $20 or $25 with a T-shirt; registration for non-students costs $25 or $30 with a T-shirt; and a T-shirt only costs $10.
