Heywood Fund Proposals Accepted at UW

March 23, 2020

The University of Wyoming Office of Academic Affairs is accepting proposals for a grant from the Heywood Fund. The deadline for submission is Friday, May 1.

The Heywood Fund was established in 1984 by John Heywood, a UW alumnus, in memory of Catherine Donofrio Heywood. The Heywood Fund awards a grant every two years to provide funding for priority projects identified by the university’s seven colleges, the Haub School of Environment and Natural Resources, the School of Energy Resources (SER) and the student body. These grants offer an opportunity for substantial one-time funding for major projects that have a significant impact on university programs.

It is the general intent of the Heywood Fund to award a single grant; however, more than one grant may be awarded in response to one or more successful proposals from the following units: the colleges of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Arts and Sciences, Business, Education, Engineering and Applied Science, Health Sciences and Law; the Haub School of Environment and Natural Resources; the SER; and the student body through the Associated Students of UW or the Division of Student Affairs. The Office of Academic Affairs invites these units to each submit a single proposal for consideration by the Heywood Fund Advisory Committee.

Submitted proposals should:

-- Advance the strategic plans of the university and/or college.

-- Explain the need within the university or college for this proposal.

-- Explain how the proposal will impact the college, students and faculty.

-- Be written in clear, understandable terms.

-- Be no more than five pages in length.

-- Explain how the success of the project will be measured.

-- Include the qualifications of the author(s) of the proposal.

-- Include a proposed budget.

The proposals must be received as PDF attachments at provost@uwyo.edu.

For more information, call the Office of Academic Affairs at 766-4286.
