Wynona to Perform at UW July 20

Laramie-based band Wynona will perform the penultimate concert in the University of Wyoming’s Summer Concert Series from 11:45 a.m.-1 p.m. Wednesday, July 20, on Simpson Plaza.

The Summer Concert Series -- free and open to the public -- features a different band highlighting a wide genre of music. Lunch will be available to purchase for $9. UW’s 7220 Entertainment sponsors the concerts this summer.

Wynona consists of four friends making music to combat the “cacophony of the windy high plains of Laramie,” according to the band’s biography. “From basements to bars to festivals, Wynona’s sound consists of layered guitars, rippin’ solos and a driving rhythm section, creating the base layer for soaring angelic vocalization from lead vocalist Rob Joyce.”

Wynona, which formed in 2010, is composed of Joyce on guitar and vocals; Curtis Harnish on guitar; Larson Lind on bass; and Connor Novotny on drums.

The band recorded its first album, “Rest Is History,” in 2017. The group is headed back to the studio this fall to record a new album that reflects its evolving sound.
