Fine Arts Degree Programs

The University of Wyoming Department of Art offers degree programs for the Bachelor of Arts and the Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in visual art, as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Art History. Keys to successful completion of an art degree program include:  technical skill, conceptual thinking, self-reflection, an understanding of the history of art and critical theory. Faculty teach all levels from freshman to senior level courses and advise and mentor students throughout their education while they develop their own artistic voice. During each academic year the department offers courses in the following concentrations:


•  Art History
•  Ceramics
•  Drawing
•  Foundations
•  Graphic Design
•  Metalsmithing
•  Painting
•  Photography
•  Printmaking
•  Sculpture

Minors are also available in all concentrations and museum studies.

BFA Art Exhibition Opens April 4 at UW

March 31, 2016 — The University of Wyoming’s Department of Art and Art History’s annual Bachelor of Fine Arts Exhibition, “BFA 2016,” can be seen April 4-May 13. A reception for the exhibition will take place Friday, May 13, from 6-8 p.m. in the Visual Arts Building Gallery, on the corner of 22nd Street and Willett Drive.

UW Professors Receive NSF Grant to Collaborate on Bumblebee Research, Art

March 2, 2015 — Ecology and art will converge for two University of Wyoming professors who want to create a little buzz about the science of bumblebees by using a little creative expression.
