Dr. Jeff Ashby is a Professor in the Department of Counseling and Psychological Services at Georgia State University. He is the Co-Director of the Center for the Study of Stress, Trauma, and Resilience, a Licensed Psychologist, a Registered Play Therapist Supervisor, and a Diplomate of the American Board of Professional Psychology. Jeff lives in Atlanta with his wife and four children (a constant adventure).

J.P. Lilly is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Registered Play Therapist specializing in Jungian Analytical Play Therapy. The majority of the presentation will be spent in didactic lecture, as well as small group discussions and activities. During this presentation, the participants will: 1) Gain a clear understanding and discuss the development of a child’s psyche. 2) Gain a clear understanding of the development of a complex and proto-complex. 3) Gain a clear understanding of the archetypal material involved in complex formation 4) Gain a clear understanding of the symbolic nature of toys and their use in Jungian play therapy. 5) Understand and apply the connection between the thematic application of the toys and the child’s complex related issues through play therapy. 6) Discuss and demonstrate understanding of a child’s work and the process of transformation within play therapy. 7) Use the therapist’s role as witness, container, and interpreter within play therapy.
