Career Services Office

The Career Services Office provides planning, placement, and counseling services for students, alumni, and employers seeking to recruit UW students.

The Salary Summary for the Class of 2012 (with information and statistics from NALP) will be available on our website later this summer. Placement Summary information is available here. From the Class of 2012, 59 of 75 graduates (78.6%) were employed at the time of the survey (February 15, 2013, 9 months following graduation). Of those employed, 43 of the 59 were employed in Bar Passage Required positions (attorneys/associates at law firms, judicial law clerks, district attorneys, general counsel, staff attorneys in public interest/legal services jobs, and a county attorney). Eleven (11) of the 59 (18.6%) were employed in JD Advantage positions (intellectual property analysts, law clerks/legal researchers, a legislative aide, and an athletic director of compliance). One (1) of the 59 was in a professional position (working for a environmental consulting firm) and four (4) were in non-professional positions. Three (3) of the 79 graduates are pursuing a full time graduate degree. Ten (10) of the 79 (12.6%) were unemployed at the time of the survey. Three (3) graduates were of unknown status at the time of the survey.

Of the 59 employed, 33 (55.9%) went to work for law firms; five (5) (8%) are employed in Business & Industry; seven (7) (11.8%) are working in Governmental positions; and two (2) (3%) are working in the Public Interest sector. Three (3) of the 59 (5%) are working in Education. Of those employed, nine (9) (15%) are working in Judicial Clerkships: two (2) in a federal judicial clerkship and seven (7) in state or local clerkships.

Most of our employed graduates remained in Wyoming (38 grads/64% of those employed). Twelve (12) graduates (20%) are working in Colorado and two (2) (3%) are in South Dakota. The remainder of the graduates are scattered throughout the United States, including: Florida, Montana, Minnesota, North Carolina, Texas, and Hawaii.
