School of Energy Resources Seeks Energy and Environmental Systems Director

The School of Energy Resources (SER) is seeking applicants from current University of Wyoming faculty members to serve as the director for the Energy and Environmental Systems (EES) concentration in the Energy Resource Management and Development (ERMD) undergraduate degree program.

The appointment will be effective July 2023 and correspond with the academic year at UW. As Director of EES at SER, a successful candidate would receive a stipend of $10,000 per Fiscal Year to provide administrative support to students in the concentration, and to facilitate connections between students, professional organizations, and potential employers in the field.

The ERMD program is designed to meet the needs of the energy industry. Through a combination of rigorous academic training, hands-on scenarios and internships, students prepare for essential roles in industries such as oil and natural gas, renewable energy, and mining. Students take a core curriculum focusing in business, natural resources, law and policy, project management, and rangeland ecology and watershed management. The program offers two concentrations for specialization, Professional Land Management (PLM) or EES.

“We have experienced a high rate of success for students in the PLM concentration of the program which has benefited from a program director for the past decade,” says SER Academic Director Kami Danaei. “By modeling the EES concentration after our PLM program, we anticipate that students will gain the same guidance and direction for potential careers, exposure with industry professionals, and that the program will continue to thrive and grow.”

The EES concentration trains students to work within energy production and reclamation, with a major emphasis upon the sustained stewardship of air, land, water, and ecological resources. More information about this academic program can be found here and the full call for applicants can be downloaded from the SER website.

Interested candidates should have experience in a related field and must be a full-time UW faculty member. Those seeking consideration for this position should email a one-page letter of intent and a current CV to Kami Danaei, SER Academic Director at kdanaei@uwyo.edu by May 26, 2023.
