“We are very excited that Kimmie has returned to the School of Energy Resources,” says Director of Business Operations Rachel Ferrell. “Kimmie is a very talented and meticulous accountant with an encouraging disposition. She brings so much enthusiasm to the team, and we are pleased to acknowledge and re-engage with outstanding personnel.”

Originally from Grand Junction, Colo., Takaki holds a Bachelor’s degree from Colorado Mesa University in Mathematics, as well as a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from the University of Wyoming. She later earned her Master’s degree in Accounting from UW and embarked on a decade-long career as an accountant in both the private and public sectors. Prior to her most recent position as a Senior Accountant for the City of Laramie, Takaki served in accounting and management roles at UW in the Department of Civil Engineering, SER, and the Wyoming Cooperative Fish & Wildlife Research Unit.

Takaki has been recognized for her merits and work ethic, receiving the 2020 Administrative Excellence Award for the Cooperative Research Units at the United States Geological Survey.

In her new position, Takaki manages the finances for the recently acquired Wyoming Integrated Test Center, and oversees the extensive budget and project portfolio for SER’s Center for Carbon Capture and Conversion (CCCC).

“I am really excited to be back at SER,” says Takaki. “I loved working for Rachel the first time around, she is a wonderful leader and mentor. I am also really looking forward to working in a department that is growing significantly! SER is doing remarkable work for the State, and I am excited to be a part of it and the new challenges that it brings.”
