International Students

As an international student, certain immunizations and tests are essential for your well-being and to comply with university regulations. Our dedicated health professionals are here to guide you through these requirements and ensure a seamless and healthy transition into university life. Below, you'll find detailed information about these necessary vaccinations and tests, ensuring a smooth academic journey at the University of Wyoming.

International Student Health Requirements

  1. Schedule an International Student Processing Appointment
    • Soon after your arrival in Laramie you should schedule an international student processing appointment with Student Health to ensure you will be eligible to register for classes.
  2. MMR Immunization
    • International students who have not received both MMR vaccines at least one month before coming to the US should plan to get their first or second MMR vaccine done at the Student Health Service when they arrive.
    • Getting an MMR vaccine less than one month before your International Student Processing appointment at Student Health means we will need to postpone required tuberculosis testing.
    • Please refer to the MMR Immunization page for more information about complying with this requirement.

  3. Tuberculosis (TB) Testing
    • As per UW Regulation 8-248 all international students, on arrival to the University of Wyoming, must make an International Student Processing appointment at the Student Health Service to be evaluated for tuberculosis (TB).
    • Please refer to the Immunizations and Preventative Health Services page for more information about this requirement.

Yes, the Student Health Service will assist you with immunization and testing.

You must make an appointment to be seen at the Student Health Service for “international student processing” as soon as you arrive to campus to fulfill these requirements.

For those international students who have the student medical insurance offered through the University of Wyoming, the student insurance may cover the cost of required immunizations and testing performed at the Student Health Service.

Students who have private insurance will have to pay for their own immunizations and testing, as the Student Health service does not bill private insurance.

As of Feb. 2024, the costs are as follows (costs are subject to change):

  • MMR: $110.00 per shot (two shots are required if there is no evidence of previous immunizations).
  • TB blood test: $9.00.

Yes, an international student processing appointment to initiate screening must be scheduled prior to international students being able to attend classes.

A hold will be put on your account and the International Student and Scholars program will be notified if students fail to attend required appointments.

Yes, all health information and documentation must be submitted to Student Health in English.

The UW Student Health Service is not affiliated with Student Health Insurance. More information about health insurance policies can be found here.
