| John O’Hagan holds both a BFA and an MFA in Acting from the University of Idaho. Before graduate school, John worked freelance as an actor and teacher for several years. In 1996, he joined Idaho Theatre for Youth in Boise, ID, as an actor on their Opening Windows tour, and shortly after, started teaching for the company’s Drama School program. Named Director of Education for the company in 1999, he was also asked to serve as Company Manager and worked to effect a successful merger with the Idaho Shakespeare Festival where he remained as Director of Education until his return to graduate school in 2003. After completing his MFA, John spent a semester teaching at the University of Idaho. He then spent two years as a member of the acting company for the Oregon Shakespeare Festival appearing in Cyrano de Bergerac, The Winter’s Tale, The Tempest, The Taming of the Shrew and On the Razzle. In addition, John did two school tours with OSF which allowed him the wonderful opportunity of playing Hamlet. Other favorite acting credits include: Doubt (Fr. Flynn), Proof (Hal), Macbeth (title role), Two Gentlemen of Verona (Proteus), Picasso at Lapin Agile (Einstein), Valparaiso (Michael Majeski), The Rivals (Jack Absolute), and The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged). Directing credits include: Fiddler on the Roof (College of Idaho), Jack Frost and Moss Gown (both for the Idaho Shakespeare Festival) How to Eat Like a Child (And Other Lessons in Not Being Grown Up) (Oregon Conservatory for the Performing Arts) and Twelfth Night (Idaho Repertory Theatre). John received a Mayor’s Award for Artistic Excellence in 2003 (Boise, ID) and an Outstanding Faculty Award from the University of Idaho’s Academic Assistance program in 2005. John is married to the amazing Nikki, and they have three very active sons - Sean, Brendan and Aidan. His latest challenge is learning to play guitar. |
