Construction Report for September 17 - 23, 2021

Access to King Street (including Washakie) during construction on 15th Street - Please see this map or the interactive map above for details on access to King Street during the closure of 15th Street between Grand and Ivinson (9/20/21 to 10/8/21).


19th Street Condensate Line Repair (UW Operations, November 2021) - Please stay clear of crews repairing a condensate leak west of RMMC.  The sidewalk will be closed in the immediate area of this work.

College of Business Student Success Center (GE Johnson Construction Wyoming LLC, Jackson; Spring 2021) – Construction in the breezeway of the College of Business is ongoing and expected to continue into the fall 2021 semester. Please use caution around crews and equipment.

Corbett Building Renovation (Shepard Construction, Inc., Rawlins, WY; Fall 2021) – Concrete pad and power equipment installation continues on the east side of the building.  Insulation and drywall installation continues along with electrical and fire sprinkler rough in for the locker room areas.  Plumbing trim out will begin this week.  Drywall taping and finishing continues along with ceramic wall and floor tile installation in both Kinesiology and locker room areas. Suspended ceiling and lighting installation in the Lobby and corridor areas will begin. Framing and drywall of the 2nd floor offices will begin late in the week.  Please use caution around construction activities and be mindful of not crossing construction barriers.

Education Annex ( UW Operations) - There will be construction work on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd floors of Ed Annex due to a water leak. The majority of the work will be taping drywall and new paint in the hallways, the men’s restrooms on 2nd and 3rd floors will be temporarily closed at times. We will try to schedule the work in the classrooms when class is not in session.

Fleet and Transit Relocation – Bus Maintenance Facility (GH Phipps Wyoming, Inc., Laramie, WY; Winter 2021) – Paving has started on the existing parking lot and paving operations will continue south and west across the site around the new Transit Maintenance Building.  Landscaping installation continues.  Electrical pad and equipment installation continues.  Metal building structural steel is complete and panel trim will begin.  Framing, plumbing, electrical and mechanical rough-in will begin.  Please access Fleet Maintenance Services following construction signage.  Please use caution around construction activities and follow signage for access.

High Bay Research Facility (Six Point Solutions, Summer, 2021) - East Storage Yard – Reconfiguration of the east storage yard, including installation of a small storage building and associated landscaping, will occur through the summer of 2021.  Please use caution around construction activities.

Prexy's Pasture Domestic Water Line Upgrade (Six Point Solutions, November 2021) - The domestic water line running from Education to Geology will be replaced.  Walking paths along the construction site may be temporarily impacted.  Please stay clear of bore pits and construction crews.

Physical Sciences (UW Plumbers; Spring through Fall, 2021) - Faucets in Labs throughout the Physical Sciences building are being upgraded. Those affected by specific Lab closure will be notified in advance.  Please excuse our mess and any inconvenience this may cause.

Science Initiative Building (SI) and Lewis St. Corridor Landscaping (Construction manager GE Johnson Construction Wyoming LLC, Jackson; Spring 2022) – 10th St. and both north/south sidewalks between Lewis and Bradley will be 100% closed for the duration of the project. The ADA spots have been relocated to the south-west corner of the ENZI building. Lewis St. from 9th to 10th St. is partially reopened from the 9th St. intersection to the Berry Gate, access is for facilities and construction traffic only, no pedestrian access. Access to the north entrances to the Berry Center and Bureau of Mines will remain pedestrian access only until mid-October. The ramp between Engineering and Agriculture from Lewis St. to Prexy’s pasture is 50% complete, access from Prexy’s to Lewis St. will be fully restored by October. ADA or after-hours access has been restored into Ag. from Prexy’s pasture. There are 5 temporary ADA parking spots on the Lewis St. corridor both east and west of the 12th St. intersection if needed.

Vehicle Access to Core Campus - Starting 9/13 Vehicular traffic flow onto core campus will be restricted. Every effort must be made to keep vehicles off of the Prexy’s area during peak passing periods. The Berry Gate access, at 9 ½ Lewis street, will be the only access. Incoming vehicles must pass through this controlled entrance utilizing an authorized WyoOne card.

West Campus Well (UW Equipment/Plumbers/Electricians/Controls/Vaughn Concrete; July 1, 2021 through November 30, 2021) - Repairs will be made to the West Campus well including excavation and crane work.  Please exercise caution around crews/equipment.

Wyo Hall Deconstruction and Utility project (Construction manage Haselden Construction, Laramie, WY; Summer 2021) -  Half Acre Tunnel is complete with all mechanical water lines fully operational.  15th Street domestic water line work is progressing with only the Ivinson to Grand portion remaining.  The playground is progressing and will be complete when needed by the school district.  The new water line work North of Lewis is progressing as well. Asphalt operations will commence on 15th, Lewis and the Alley adjacent to McWhinnie on 9/20/21.  Please continue to observe all site restrictions and traffic control provisions in this area. Limited temporary utility interruptions may occur during the tunnel construction. Any affected parties will be notified in advance with temporary services put in place where possible.

  • Approved Phasing Plan for the 15th Street waterline (Between Ivinson and Grand) install for the Wyoming Hall Project. The work is scheduled for: 9/20/21 Thru 10/8/21.
