Construction Report for November 25 - December 3, 2020

Buchanan Center for Performing Arts (Structural Services-Paint Shop) – UW Painters will start maintenance painting in the next few weeks.


Bureau of Mines Entry (Marshall Contracting, Inc) - Use caution using the west entrance until the new doors are installed.

College of Business Student Success Center (GE Johnson Construction Wyoming LLC, Jackson; Spring 2021) – Renovations of the College of Business Student Success Center, entire first floor of the west wing, are expected to begin early December and will continue into Spring 2021. The restrooms and elevator in this area will remain open to the public over the course of construction. Please use caution around crews and equipment.

Education Building – Lab School Front Office (CHC, UW Shops, Western Woods) – Remodel of the Lab School Front Office and relocated Nurses Office. Work will be intermittent during the summer and includes painting, carpeting, cabinetry, plumbing and electrical work. Please use caution around crews and equipment.

Fieldhouse (UW Operations) - Plumbing Shop will be working on the heating system on the upper west penthouse mechanical room. Piping is complete waiting on insulation contractor, should be complete by the Thanksgiving Break.

Knight Hall – Office of the Registrar (Carpentry Shop, Fremont Electric) – Construction to install surface-mounted conduit, outlets and data will be starting the morning of Tuesday, May 5th.  Please be aware of crews and social distancing during this time.  There will be noise involved with drilling of holes into the walls, and please be aware this may be disruptive to work activities.

Knight Hall/ Southwest entrance, Planter Box Restoration (UW Operations, Equipment Services) - Beginning 11/1/2020 Equipment Services will be restoring the stone planter boxes by the Wyoming Public Radio Station entrance. Please use caution near work areas, crews, and equipment.

Lewis Street Corridor (Black Hills Energy) – Starting 9/24/20, Black Hills Energy will be completing the 6” gas main install, pressure test, backfill, and paving. There will be one lane traffic control / flagging and potentially limited closures and detours at the 15th and Lewis, 10th and Lewis, and 13th and Lewis intersections. This gas line work is expected to be completed in 10 working days.

Ross Hall (Colorado Hazard Control) – Ross Hall is currently undergoing floor repairs, cleaning, waxing, abatement and flooring replacements on first, second and third floors. Please be cautious in these areas.

Science Initiative Building (SI) (Construction manager GE Johnson Construction Wyoming LLC, Jackson; Spring 2022) – 10th St. between Lewis and Bradley will be 100% closed for the duration of the project, the sidewalk will be closed for utility crossing work, but will re-open late fall. The ADA spots have been relocated to the south west corner of the ENZI building. Lewis St. from 9th to 11th St. will be one-way EASTBOUND for the duration of the project. The north half of Lewis St. between 9th and 10th St. will remain closed for the duration of the project. Please continue to observe all traffic control signage, restricted areas, and one-way requirements.

West Campus Satellite Energy Plant (WCSEP) (Construction manager GE Johnson Construction Wyoming LLC, Jackson; Summer 2021) – The ADA parking spots on the west side of the Anthropology lot have been re-located to the south side of Lewis St. adjacent to the 12th St. intersection. To accommodate distribution piping the ADA parking north of the Agriculture Building has been temporarily relocated to the 12th and Lewis intersection. Partial and complete street closures and parking restrictions will be present on Bradley and Lewis Streets until late fall 2020. Overhead work continues, please continue to observe all site restrictions and traffic control provisions.

Wyo Hall Deconstruction and Utility project (Construction manage Haselden Construction, Laramie, WY; Summer 2021) – Excavation from the Half Acre tunnel east is in full swing and will continue east.  Expect noise and dust from the work in this area.  Please continue to observe all site restrictions and traffic control provisions in this area. Limited temporary utility interruptions may occur during the tunnel construction. Any affected parties will be notified in advance with temporary services put in place where possible.
