Website Support


University of Wyoming uses two main methods to create and manage the pages within its website. These webpages can either be CMS sites or central sites. These two types of sites have two very different functionalities and help resources, so be sure to read their descriptions in full.

 

 

 

CMS Sites

 

Web content using the Content Management System Omni CMS gives colleges, departments and programs the ability to create web content catered to their organization while maintaining a brand standards across the university. This webpage will provide content managers resources for creating and maintaining their website.

Central Sites

 

Some web of UW's web content is not within the CMS. The services related to managing websites that are not directories within the Omni content management system (CMS) can be found on our Non-CMS Sites webpage. Omni CMS features a Request Help Gadget located in the top right of your screen, available whenever you are logged in to Omni CMS.

We serve over 300 site editors across campus and may not be able to address your questions immediately. Another option for receiving troubleshooting assistance is to attend a weekly Virtual Open Lab where you can speak directly with a CMS expert.

 

 

 

Support FAQs

To review your completed course, continue your incomplete training course, or to enroll in Omni CMS training, you will go to the course at the following link: WyoLearn Catalog - CMS Site Author Training

First you will login to WyoLearn in the upper-right corner of the screen. After you have logged in, click the arrow next to your name and select the Student Dashboard. From there, you will be able to see which courses are In Progress, Completed, and Not Completed. The screenshot below shows these areas circled in red. When you are on your courses page, you can select to begin, continue or review that course.

It's kind of like how all all tortoises are turtles, but not all turtles are tortoises.

Site editors, sometimes called site editors, are responsible for managing and maintaining web pages for their units. All site editors must complete CMS Site Author training before gaining access to the CMS.

Site owners have the authority to approve site access for new editors and can make major web decisions without having to consult with other people in their unit.

Sometimes site editors are also site owners, but this is not required. It will vary based on how your work unit operates.

When your department or unit has staff changes, it is the site owners' responsibility to make sure that updates are made to the site owners directory and to add/remove site editor access. This is a vital step in maintaining your website.

Your site is required to have a primary and secondary site owner.

The site owners are those people that can be contacted for making decisions about their web directories, such as website restructuring or granting permission when site editors request to have access to edit specific websites. CMS site owners can also be editors, but do not necessarily have to be website editors. They can be a department head, dean, business manager or supervisor.

All site editors must complete CMS Site Author training before gaining access to the CMS.

You will need to log in with your UWyo Single Sign On (SSO) username and password to view the following links.

To find the site owners of a CMS site, click the "CMS Site Owner Log" button below.

 

To find the contact information for a Non-CMS site, click the "Central Site contact and author information" button below.

 

To request a list of site editors for your CMS website,  please submit a request through the Help Request Gadget located in the top right of your screen inside Omni CMS, email omnihelp@uwyo.edu, or submit a help ticket by clicking the "Omni CMS service request" button below. 

 

CMS page templates require different image sizes depending on where and how the image is being used. Omni CMS uses snippets and components to create each design option within the page templates. This CMS Template Image Sizes page will give you all the sizes for each snippet and component used on the page templates.

Downloading an image from the Canto Photo Database has preset image sizes for all of the snippets and components in the Omni CMS templates.
