 Course Dates: March 7 to May 8, 2022

 

This free online course provides information regarding the implementation of Augmentative Alternative Communication (AAC) and Speech Generating Devices (SGD’s) and is designed for:

  • Speech-Language Pathologists
  • Speech-Language Pathologist Assistants
  • Educators
  • Parents

Content covered includes:

  • Review of AAC terminology
  • Introduces a three-step approach to intervention
  • Frameworks for implementation
  • User communication competencies
  • Partner skills using the AAC system/SGD
  • Population-specific considerations for implementation

AAC Implementation Course Flier

Instructor: Terri Wofford, Speech-Language Pathologist, Wyoming Institute for Disabilities

Location: This is an asynchronous, 9 week, no-cost, online course, and therefore there are no set weekly meeting times for class. Participants will be required to attend one virtual class meeting using ZOOM, during week 9, as part of a required assignment.

Continuing Education: Course participants are eligible for:

  • 21 CEUs/Certificate of Attendance
  • 5 PTSB Credits by request
  • 1 UW Non-Degree Graduate Credit, a $50.00 registration fee must be paid at the time of registration.

Cost: The course and materials are free.

Capacity: Minimum 5, maximum 20 participants.
