AAC Assessment Process (AAC-1001)

Begins 10/11/2021 Ends 12/13/2021

In this 9 week online distance learning course using the Wyolearn, UW learning management platform, participants will

  • develop working definitions of AAC terminology

  • learn about several AAC assessment frameworks

  • explore a variety of AAC assessment tools

  • learn important concepts of feature matching and device trials

  • learn the key components required within the Speech Generating Device (SGD) report for funding. 

This course is designed for Speech Language Pathologists and offers 21 CEUs or 1.5 PTSB credits.  The course and materials are free.  Wyoming participants who successfully complete the course will be entered into a drawing for a chance to win an AAC Assessment Toolkit valued at approximately $200.00 Registration is limited sign up today at https://wind.catalog.instructure.com/browse/wind/watr/courses/aac-assessmentfall-2021


Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) Assessment Process • AAC-1001

Course Dates: October 11 - December 13, 2021

Instructor: Terri Wofford, Speech-Language Pathologist, Wyoming Institute for Disabilities

Location: Online distance learning course via WyoLearn, the UW learning management platform. Assignments may be completed at any time during each week, but will require on average 2 hours of participation weekly. Participants will be required to attend one virtual class meeting using ZOOM, a video conferencing platform, during week 6, as part of a required assignment.

This free online course provides information regarding the implementation of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) and Speech Generating Devices (SGD’s) and is designed for:

  • Speech Language Pathologists
  • Speech Language Pathologist Assistants

Participants will:

  • Develop working definitions of AAC terminology
  • Learn about several AAC assessment framework models
  • Be introduced to a variety of AAC assessment tools
  • Learn about the importance of feature matching & device trials
  • Learn about the key components required in the AAC/ Speech Generating Device (SGD) report for funding

Continuing Education: Course participants are eligible for:

  • 21 CEUs/Certificate of Attendance
  • 1.5 PTSB credits

Cost: The course and materials are free.

Capacity: Minimum 5, maximum 20 participants.

**Wyoming participants who successfully complete the course will be entered into a drawing for an AAC Assessment Toolbox, valued at approximatley $200.
