After growing up in Wylie, Texas, Billi London-Gray earned a B.A. in Theology from Criswell College in Dallas, an M.A. in Liberal Arts from St. John’s College in Annapolis, Maryland, and an M.F.A. in Intermedia Studio from The University of Texas at Arlington. In 2011 they co-founded Zosima Gallery, an itinerant exhibition project. They are a member of the feminist collective Sister Death.
Artist Statement
As an intermedia artist, London-Gray examines how we succeed and fail at living out the ideals of equality. Land use, discrimination, power dynamics, and fictional hyperbole fall within this purview. They make installations, videos, sculptures, books, zines, buttons, mail art, sound compositions, social exchanges, photos, drawings, walks, forts, and Kid-Billi forms of play. They have shared their work in exhibitions and public spaces throughout the United States and internationally.
