Dr. Howe Yang is an Assistant Professor of Art Education at the University of Wyoming. He earned his PhD in Art and Visual Culture Education at the University of Arizona. His academic, research and professional practices are shaped by a cross-disciplinary blend of four interrelated fields: art education, visual arts, visual communication design, and educational psychology. His areas of expertise include equity studies, mixed methods research, culturally responsive pedagogy, East Asian art and aesthetics, as well as design thinking and design research. His interests span a variety of intersecting topics including equity in arts education, teaching in rural/remote settings, pedagogy, cultural differences, power relations and the impact of AI on the arts and education. With nearly 20 years of teaching experience in the United State and China, Dr. Yang has taught art at the elementary, secondary and college levels, bringing a rich, international perspective to his work.
