Tracey Eckersley has a background in archaeological and museological practice and has worked as a registrar, curator, and exhibit designer at museums in North America and abroad. In addition to her research on Late Antique church mosaics and visual representations of patronage in the ancient Mediterranean, Dr. Eckersley regularly presents on active learning strategies, digital pedagogies, and Universal Design for Learning. In 2014, she was the Burton MacDonald Sampson Fellow at the American Center of Oriental Research in Amman, Jordan.
Dr. Eckersley teaches courses in ancient, medieval/Byzantine, Renaissance, and Islamic art and provides art-based study abroad opportunities, including programs at the Venice Biennale, documenta, and the Galway International Arts Festival.
As Chair of the University’s interdisciplinary Museum Studies Minor Advisory Committee, Dr. Eckersley teaches Introduction to Museology, oversees the internship program, and advises students about academic and career opportunities.
