Our research is at the interface of Analytical Chemistry, Biology, Ecology and Molecular
Biology. Our highly interdisciplinary research focuses on the development of MS-based
techniques for the analysis of small molecules (metabolites and lipids; metabolomics)
and proteins (proteomics) in a wide range of biological and environmental samples,
including microorganisms, bees, plants, animal tissue and soil. Concurrently we are developing MS-based molecular imaging techniques, including imaging
MALDI-MS and MALDESI-MS and MS/MS to gain spatio-temporal information of biological
systems. Combined, our goal is to develop novel MS-based analytical techniques to
answer questions about the molecular structure and function of biological systems.
