Donations of handmade hats, scarves, and blankets are welcome!
Participants are welcome to use the supplies provided (yarn, knitting needles, crochet hooks, etc.), or you can use your own. When you pick up supplies or drop off a donation you'll be asked to provide your name, email, and affiliation (UW student, faculty, staff, or Laramie community member). This program only accepts handmade hats, scarves, or blankets in new condition.
How does it work?
Volunteers crochet or knit their items throughout the semester, using either their own supplies or supplies provided by the SLCE Office. Knitting needles, crochet hooks, yarn needles, and various types of yarn are provided to volunteers to use for this program. You can stop by to pick up supplies, work together, or drop off donated items in the Union Fireplace Lounge (by Pokes Pub) every Tuesday during the semester from 4-6pm.
If you want to pick up supplies or donate but can't make it to these times, email slce@uwyo.edu to set up another time to stop by our office!
Donations are welcome throughout the fall 2025 semester! There are two tentative "due dates" for donations for items for the fundraiser sale, based on our planned participation in two local markets. The first due date is November 25th, and the second is December 11th. Check back for details about these markets! All proceeds from the fundraiser sale will go directly to the Laramie Soup Kitchen.
If you choose to designate your scarf or hat for direct donation to the Laramie Soup Kitchen, please drop off these donations at a Stitch It Forward session or stop by the SLCE Office. The SLCE Office will work with the Laramie Soup Kitchen to coordinate donations.
