Studying economics abroad
- Provides you with one of the most unique academic, cultural, and lifetime experiences you can have in college.
- Deepens your understanding and appreciation of the global economy.
- Will not slow down your degree completion. UW has excellent opportunities that can count your international coursework towards your UW degree. The economics courses you take abroad can count toward your economics major with prior approval. Most credit hours earned through studying abroad can also contribute toward your degree in the free-electives category.
- Is not more expensive. UW has many agreements with international Universities such that you pay only UW tuition. The Economics Department, International Programs, the College of Business, and many other UW academic units provide a significant number of merit- and financial-needs based scholarships to study-abroad students. If you write a good application, you have a good chance of getting a significant portion of your trip funded. Ask Thorsten Janus (tjanus@uwyo.edu), our department's faculty contact, for more information about these scholarships.
International Connections
UW economics professors have many collaborative relationships with international institutions around the globe. Working with our faculty connections lets you find the study abroad experience—the university, the country, the fieldwork, independent study, or foreign faculty mentors—that match your interests.
