Department of Geology and Geophysics

Graduate education, leading either to an MS or PHD degree in Geology or Geophysics, is  amajor focus of the Department. With a graduate student population of approximately 70, there is always someone to learn form and with whom to share ideas. Nearly all of our graduate students are supported on research or teaching assitantships. Our graduate students have been succesful at securing jobs in industry, academia, well-supported research department whose activities have earned marks of disinction and whose graduates have a strong record of professional success. The Department of Geology and Geophysics seeks graduate students who are passionate about advancing the frontiers of knowledge in the Earth and environmental sciences.
