The University of Wyoming had another successful academic year earning distinction as a Best Law School for Practical Training and a Best Value Law School byPreLaw and The National Jurist Magazines. The College of Law has garnered recognition in both categories for six years running.

The 2019fall editionofPreLaw and the National Jurist Magazineshighlighted the UW College of Law as a best value law school. Under the methodology used to determine rank, the College of Law proved that graduates have excellent chances of passing the bar and getting a legal job without taking on a ton of debt. In addition to the obvious factors of tuition costs, costs of living, and average debt load upon graduation, the ultimatebar passage(two-year pass rate), andemployment rateswere also taken into consideration.

The College of Law has remained dedicated to keeping the cost of attendance affordable for both in-state and out-of-state students. Meanwhile, the bar passage and employment rates have continued to climb steadily for Wyoming graduates with a large shift toward J.D. advantage and J.D. preferred jobs.

An additional aspect contributing to the competitive advantage of graduates in employment opportunities is their high skill level in the practical application of the law. Highlighted once again byPreLaw and The National Jurist Magazinesin the 2020spring issue, the University of Wyoming College of Law was ranked23rdin the nationfor practical training.

Rightly so, the most weight was given the clinical programs of a law school. As the flagship venture at the College of Law, it boasts eightclinics and practicumsthat provide students with hands-on legal training and expertise for actual clients in the Wyoming community. In 2019 alone, the clinical programs provided services to 231 clients representing 20 of the 23 counties in Wyoming. Additional credit in the ranking was given to the externship program, as well as simulation courses at the law school. Both the externship program and simulation courses provide crucial assistance to applied legal training for students.
