Welcome to the exciting world of university life, new students! Did you know that
the University of Wyoming Libraries offer a ton of resources to help you navigate
your first year of university life? Whether you need help studying for your upcoming
exam or preparing your ENGL 1010 research paper, we have a wealth of resources and
support to help you succeed. In this blog, we’ll show you our most helpful resources
so you can get the most out of your library experience and make the most of your first
year of college!
Librarian Chat
If you’re feeling stuck on a research project or paper, connecting with a librarian
is one of the best ways to get the help you need. There are a few different ways you
can get in touch with one of our librarians.
If you need to ask a question outside of business hours, we offer the option to live chat with a librarian, 7 days a week, from 10 AM to 10 PM. All you have to do is provide your name, UW
email, and ask your question! Our librarians are happy to assist you in any way they
can.
There are also a few other options if you want assistance in a different way. You
can email the librarians, and someone will get back to you the next business day. You can also send a (SMS)
text to (307) 460-4336. They will reply as soon as possible. You can also make an appointment with our librarians.
Library Coaches
Library Coaches can help you with your research questions, both online and in person. They are students
like you and are prepared to help you find quality information about any topic you
choose, find background information, or answer any questions you may have about the
libraries.
Library Coaches are available by appointment only. Appointments are available both
in-person and online. To make an appointment with a Library Coach, click this link.
Personal Librarian Program
Every UW major has a librarian who can help you get started doing research, learning
about databases, and exploring all that UW Libraries has to offer! For general research
help or questions email us. The full directory of research librarians can help you decide who to contact to help you with any specific subject area research
questions.
Study Spaces & Study Rooms
The libraries have many study spaces and study rooms for you to use, whether you need
to practice a presentation, work on a group project, write your midterm paper, or
study for your next exam. Check out some of the best study spaces here!
Coe Library has private study rooms available to reserve. You can reserve a study
room at the Help Desk in Coe Library or on the UW Libraries website. To ensure you
are able to get a study room, it is encouraged to reserve a study room online ahead of time.
Popular Reading & Libby
In addition to all the academic resources the libraries offer, we have tons of fun
reading material for you to enjoy. Reading for enjoyment can be very rewarding and
it is great for de-stressing.
Our Popular Reading collection is on Level 1 of Coe Library and has many books in a variety of genres such as Young
Adult (YA), popular fiction, popular nonfiction, horror/thriller, and fantasy. We
even have a popular reading section in Spanish!
If you own a Kindle or want to read from your smartphone, you can download the Libby app for free from your app store. You can check out content such as books, magazines,
audiobooks, and more! Content can be checked out for 14 days but may be renewed if
a request is made three or more days before the due date and if the item has no holds.
There is no need to worry about late fees because items are automatically returned
on the due date. You can check out up to 10 items at a time!
