WPR Has Successful Statewide Membership Drive

October 26, 2009

Wyoming Public Radio reached its $260,000 Fall Membership Drive goal Wednesday after only 39 hours of on-air fund raising.

WPR's membership drives continue to be among the shortest in public broadcasting across the country, reflecting the strong statewide support for public radio in Wyoming, says Jon Schwartz, general manager. He says the funding pays for much of WPR's programming and its statewide network costs.

"The brief time on-air time is made possible in large part due to the generosity of those thousands of contributing listeners who renewed their annual gifts by mail and online, and who contributed additional gifts," Schwartz says.

A service of the University of Wyoming, WPR can be heard at 91.9 FM in Laramie. The WPR network also offers Classical Laramie KUWY 88.5 FM and Jazz Laramie KUWL 90.1 FM. Both stations feature Laramie weather forecasts and WPR news.
