Students at the University of Wyoming at Casper, already looking forward to graduation, will be offered options for celebrating their accomplishments next spring.
One option is to attend a reception in Casper that will recognize graduating seniors and award recipients. A second option is to participate in a traditional commencement ceremony at the Laramie campus. Students can attend both activities or choose between the two.
“Like this past spring, we want to recognize students in a more intimate setting and open it to the public and award recipients from UW at Casper,” says UW-Casper Dean Jeff Edgens. “We’re always looking for new ways to serve the students, and this format is one that is informal, recognizes their contributions, allows for maximum participation and makes it work for everyone.”
UW-Casper will establish a celebration committee, including student representatives, faculty and staff, to plan the details of the event. As the committee gets further into the planning process and decisions are made, information will be communicated. The committee is open to suggestions and ideas.
“Students should plan to receive details from my office regarding the celebration in Casper throughout the fall and spring semesters,” Edgens adds.
Students and their families and friends who plan to attend commencement ceremonies in Laramie are encouraged to make lodging reservations at their earliest opportunity, as accommodations fill quickly. It also is important that students stay attentive to university announcements on graduation deadlines and instructions for ordering regalia, parking and other details.
As information becomes available, details can be found on UW’s commencement website at www.uwyo.edu/commencement/.
