Research Interests
My primary field of research involves interfacial science and thermodynamics as applied
to production and flow in porous media with applications to oil and gas recovery,
geological storage of greenhouse gases, and remediation of contaminated aquifers.
I am particularly interested in the intricate interplay between fluid-fluid and fluid-rock
interactions and their impact on phase behavior and transport. The study of these
interactions within a multi-scale framework has been a strategy that I have adopted
since I started working at UW. In this framework, microscale behaviors provide valuable
insights into the thermodynamic forms, conservation equations, and flow properties
at the macroscale. This is particularly important for unconventional resources where
flow controls are to date an open field of research.
