Professional Societies
The Department of Petroleum Engineering supports several
professional student societies, in which students are encouraged to participate in. There are many other engineering
student groups you may be interested in as well. The full list can be found

Student Travel Information
UW Travel Website
- Students traveling on UW business (meetings, conferences, presentations, etc.) must
complete a travel request form and submit it to their faculty supervisor in advance
of the travel dates. This applies every time you travel regardless of who is paying
the expenses.
- Students traveling internationally have specific requirements regarding their insurance
and that information is found on this website, so review the information carefully
before each trip.
- International students should check in with the ISS office well in advance of planned
travel to ensure visa requirements are met.
- Students are welcome to submit a request for financial support when traveling to approved
meetings and conferences.
- Submit requests to the Petroleum Engineering Graduate Committee.
- If recommended, they will forward your request to the department head.
- Cost-sharing is a requirement for student travel. Be prepared to request funding from
multiple sources:
