Fall Semester Start Date: August 25, 2025

Saddle Up will allow our first-year, full-time students to arrive early to campus ahead of the fall semester. That's right! You'll get to settle into the residence halls over one week early. Students will arrive on move-in day to check in, move into the halls, and partake in a college preparation camp. Saddle Up consists of required programming and coursework, as well as optional activities and community-building events before fall classes begin on August 25.

First-year, full-time students who have received an exemption from living in the UW residence halls will still be required to participate in programming and meals during the full week of Saddle Up. Meals during the week of Saddle Up for these students can be found on our costs page.

Convocation will take place on the afternoon Friday, August 22. Faculty are welcome to attend and celebrate our incoming class!

Please note: As Saddle Up is thoughtfully planned to ensure student success at UW, attendance and participation throughout the week of the 18th-22nd is expected and required

MOVE-IN DETAILS

Move-In Day

Two students stand together in front of the Honors House

Check in at a Saddle Up station.

Students living on campus check in at the Saddle Up tent same day as move in.

After Saddle Up check-in, you may begin moving into your room and unpacking.

Parents and family members looking for a place to relax and recharge are welcome to take advantage of our Parent Basecamp! Aside from the many helpful resources available in the basement of Washakie during move-in, parents will have a space to unwind with refreshments in the company of other Cowboy parents.

Moving in late? Contact us at saddleup@uwyo.edu or (307) 766-5765 and we'll help you get started!

Living Off-Campus?

Students living off-campus check in at the Saddle Up tent between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM on move-in day. After Saddle Up check-in, you'll be ready to get started!

We will be hosting an Off-Campus Mingle on Move-In Day, mimicking the first floor meeting that students in the halls experience. This is a great chance to get to know other students living off-campus! All off-campus students are required to attend this event.
