If you are passionate about geography, history, and political science, the University of Wyoming Bachelor of Arts in Secondary Social Studies Education program will provide you with the additional expertise you need to teach geography, history, economics, civics, psychology, sociology, and anthropology in middle and high schools. Serve in a role where you can help students become responsible citizens by better understanding the economic, social, and political history that has shaped our society.

As a student, you will collaborate with experienced faculty members as you learn about past and current trends in pedagogy and teaching methods. You will learn how to be reflective in your teaching while incorporating special education techniques, multicultural education methods, and technology into your classroom. Through authentic engagement in coursework and real-world classroom experience, you will have the confidence to lead your own classroom upon graduation.

UW’s secondary Social Studies Education program is nationally recognized by the National Council for the Social Studies (NCSS) and the Association for Advancing Quality in Educator Preperation (AAQEP). On campus students in Laramie will benefit from several resources to ensure success in the secondary education bachelor’s program.

Students who complete the program will earn a B.A. in Secondary Social Studies Education with a concurrent major in history or political science and have the option to take electives to gain additional endorsements. Upon graduation, you will be eligible to apply for your Wyoming teaching license to teach grades 6-12.
