How Wyoming Developed Early Learning Standards for Educators, by Educators

In 2016, Nikki Baldwin's sabbatical journey across Wyoming revealed that the state's early learning standards were largely unused despite their strong framework. By 2020, Baldwin seized the opportunity to refresh these standards, prioritizing input from early childhood educators. Her collaborative approach, bolstered by a federal Preschool Development Grant, resulted in practical, educator-centered standards that emphasize flexibility and trust in teachers' expertise. Today, these standards are being actively integrated into educational practices across the state.
