Campus Construction Update for Week of Nov. 8

These are among the construction activities scheduled at the University of Wyoming during the week of Nov. 8-14:

The UW Facilities Planning Office reports the following activities scheduled for the week:

Berry Biodiversity Conservation Center -- Over-excavation of building pad, installation of shoring next to the pine trees will take place. There will be additional large truck traffic in and out of the site. There will be grading and installation of road base on the west side of the alley where the storage buildings were removed.

Old Power Plant -- Deconstruction and dust control will continue.

ILLC (Information Library and Learning Center) -- The CMAR (Construction Manager at Risk) has scheduled painting for the Wyoming Union parking lot for this Sunday with the hope of opening it up early next week. Areas have been taped off to prepare the area for painting and to facilitate sign and meter installation. Work at the building is substantially complete, ready to be used for its intended purpose. The CMAR will be working on items requested by the Library and picking up punch lists items.

College of Business Expansion and Renovation (Scheduled completion: Fall 2010) -- The CMAR for the project will continue the current work sequence. Masonry, windows, and metal panels on the exterior of the building; painting and ceiling grids in the basement; drywall finishing and painting on the ground level; metal framing and drywall installation on the second level; metal framing on the third level; and installation of air handling units in the penthouse.

Kendall House (Southeast corner of 8th and Fremont Streets, will become the Helga Otto Haub School of Environment and Natural Resources) -- The contractor has fenced the area and is setting up for site work. Excavation for the addition will be complete this week with concrete footings to follow. Interior demolition is continuing. There will be no parking along the alley on the east side of the property.

Biological Safety Lab, Level Three (BSL3) additions to the State Veterinary Laboratory -- Masonry work continues on the exterior of the building. Preparation of the roof deck will be under way. Utility rough-ins will be on-going in the northeast portion of the building.

Arena-Auditorium -- Accessible seating is being added, with painting scheduled to contiue this week.

War Memorial Stadium Expansion and Improvements (Scheduled Completion: Fall 2010) -- The East Stadium parking lot will be open on game days. Roofing continues this week, and the temporary heat enclosure is ongoing.

Lewis Street Apartment Removal -- The third and final apartment at 1113 E. Lewis Street is anticipated to be moved in a couple of weeks. Please use caution on Lewis Street between 11th and 12th Streets.

Engineering 4055 (Scheduled Completion: January, 2010) -- Electrical work continues in the research lab.

Bioscience General Classroom Renovations, Phase 2 (Scheduled completion date: Dec. 21) -- Demolition work is complete in Room 220, electrical work is scheduled this week. Some punch list items remain in Rooms 217, 218 and 219. Staging area takes up 1 parking spot in the Hoyt Hall loop drive.

Centennial Complex -- Exterior block repair is complete. Cap flashing is completed at the Sculpture Court and Art Museum window sills. Block cleaning is continuing. Control joint caulking and block sealing will be ongoing through this weekend. Staging for the contractor is on the northeast side of the building.

The UW Physical Plant has scheduled the following activities for the week:

Half Acre -- The northeast corner sidewalk between the Day Lot and Half Acre remains blocked for grate replacement and repair of the sidewalk. Bus traffic has returned to normal; however, construction fencing does extend into the driveway. Caution signs are posted, and pedestrians should avoid the area or use extreme caution when walking around the fencing. Work should be complete mid-week if the weather cooperates.

Ross Hall -- The road between Knight Hall and Ross Hall will be closed from 13th Street west to the Student Health Building for about three weeks to repair a section of utility tunnel. Two-way traffic from Ivinson north to Student Health will be possible on the west end of Knight Hall. Please use caution when driving in that area and yield to vehicles already in the roadway. Service vehicles can access Knight Hall from the southwest corner, and service access to Ross Hall will be off Prexy's on the north side of the building.

Corbett Building -- Exterior light installation should be complete by Monday.

Health Sciences Building - Flagstone work is complete. Landscaping will continue for one more week.

Classroom Building and Health Sciences -- Roof drains are being re-routed between these two buildings at the southeast corner of the Health Sciences Building. Signs will be posted. Please use caution in this area.

Student Union -- Carpeting throughout the building is being replaced. Work will continue in limited areas until Thanksgiving.

Engineering Building -- Window sill repairs continue as weather permits on 4th, 5th and 6th floors inside of the court area on the east wall.

RMMC (Regulated Materials Management Center) -- Re-roofing continues. The staging area is on the south side of building. Please use caution when entering from the south and around the staging area. Fan replacement on the storage wing will occur in conjunction with the roof replacement.

Golf Course Club House Roof Replacement -- Roof replacement is in progress. Interior lights have been shut down while re-wiring occurs.

Knight Hall -- Capstone work on the southwest planters of the building is complete.
