Tri Delta Serves Pancakes for St. Jude's Hospital

November 5, 2009

University of Wyoming sorority Delta Delta Delta will serve flapjacks from 6 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, until 6 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 8, for its annual pancake breakfast fundraiser for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Tickets cost $5 and can be purchased in advance or at the door. The Tri Delta house is located at 1616 Sorority Row on the UW campus.

"Last year was the first time we tried serving for an entire day and we ended up raising more than $6,000," says Liz Brown, Tri Delta philanthropy chair. "We were so ecstatic with the outcome from last year, that this year we set a goal to raise $8,000."

All proceeds raised by Tri Delta go directly to the hospital, with 85 percent going to patients. The money is used so patients and families at St. Jude do not have to pay for medical care, housing, food or schooling.

"Tri Delta wants to make the public aware of all the amazing things that St. Jude does for these children," says Brown. "It is such an honor to know that people in this community care enough about this organization to come out and support our chapter's efforts to help these kids and their families."

St. Jude is the world's premier pediatric cancer research hospital, treating 5,400 patients yearly. Tri Delta as a national organization paired with St. Jude in 2005 and set a goal to raise $10 million in 10 years. Nationally, Tri Delta has already raised $8.7 million, so it has changed its goal to $10 million before 2010.
