supervisor for community-based mental health agencies.
Throughout her career, Tanya has served children, adolescents, and adults impacted
by acute, chronic, and complex trauma. Her work is deeply rooted in trauma-informed,
developmentally responsive, and culturally competent care.
Tanya's current research focuses on the lived experiences of youth in group homes,
with particular attention to narratives of resilience, trauma, and post-traumatic
growth. Her qualitative work explores how early traumatic experiences shape identity
development and healing trajectories in institutional settings. Tanya is passionate
about bridging clinical practice and research to inform trauma-informed care in residential
settings and beyond.
Her broader research interests include trauma and resilience, cross-cultural counseling,
grief, childhood and adolescent trauma, and the development of specialized counseling
approaches for historically underserved or vulnerable populations. Through her work
as a researcher, educator, and clinician, she remains committed to advancing equitable,
compassionate care across diverse communities.
