UW's graduating seniors are headed to jobs and graduate schools around the country

Spring 2014 will see more than 1,600 graduate and undergraduate students successfully complete their degrees at the University of Wyoming. After throwing their hats in the air during the May graduation ceremonies, these new alumni will head off to jobs around the state and across the country, as well as graduate schools nationwide. Read on to see what the future holds for a number of this season’s graduates.


“I’m going to the University of Utah as a master’s student to study geographic information systems, emergency management and hazards.” –Josh Reynolds, Cheyenne, Wyo., B.S., geography


“I will be attending graduate school to continue my education in computational mechanics and project management.” –Dustin Bales, Cheyenne, Wyo., B.S., mechanical engineering


“I recently accepted a job in Bismarck, N.D., as a design engineer with Bobcat. I will start working this summer.” –Benjamin Vetter, Torrington, Wyo., B.S., mechanical engineering


“In September I will begin working as an audit assistant for Deloitte & Touche LLP in the Denver office. I interned for Deloitte last summer, which led into a full-time job.” –Kelsey Eklund, Albin, Wyo., M.S., accounting


“I will join the private law firm of Aron & Hennig LLP in Laramie, Wyo. I hope to practice transactional law to help businesses and families effectively plan for the uncertainties of the future.” –Kelianne Chamberlain, Afton, Wyo., J.D.


“I plan to begin a post-graduate year-one residency in June or July to continue my training and prepare me for a career hopefully working at a VA medical center.” –Megan Saunders, Placerville, Calif., Ph.R.D.


“I will be attending graduate school at Arizona State University to become a bilingual speech-language pathologist!” –Shaylyn Sheaffer, Laramie, Wyo., B.A., Spanish, B.S., speech-language pathology 


“I will be applying to medical school after graduating, hoping to enter in the fall of 2015. In the year I am applying, I will attempt to work as an EMT based out of Cheyenne.” –Isaac Newton Hayward, Laramie Wyo., B.S., physiology


“I plan to work over the summer as an orientation leader at UW, after which I will be … [entering] Creighton University School of Dentistry in Omaha, Neb., this fall.” –Trevor Skinner, Star Valley, Wyo., B.S., physiology


“I will return to Ethiopia for good [and teach in the] counseling program at Addis Ababa University, the oldest and largest university of Ethiopia.” –Tigist Wuhib Tsega, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, Ph.D., counselor education and supervision


“I have been accepted to the Ph.D. program of Islamic civilization at Emory University, Atlanta, Ga., and will start my studies from fall of 2014.” –Donohon Abdugafurova, Uzbekistan, M.A., curriculum and instruction


“Once I graduate I will be going to graduate school at the University of Utah. I will be in a geography master’s program studying paleoclimate.” Josh Heyer, Windsor, Colo., B.S., geography and environment and natural resources


“Each year, more than 1 million students drop out of high school nationwide … which is why I have chosen to participate in a program called City Year Chicago to help fight this education crisis.” –Caroline Brown, St. Paul, Minn., B.S.W.


“I have accepted a job in Kerrville, Texas, as a staff pharmacist with Walgreens.”  –Russell Davidson, Kerrville, Texas, Ph.R.D.


“I will be going into a Ph.D. program at Baylor College of Medicine on the biomedical side of molecular biology.” Josh Sharpe, Cheyenne, Wyo., B.S., molecular biology


“After graduation I plan on continuing my education by working towards a M.S. degree in physiology at UW in the lab of Neural Development and Learning with Dr. Sun.” –Dan Petrus, Laramie, Wyo., B.S., physiology


“I will be working for the summer on a collaboration between the vector control division of a chemical company and the Natrona County Health Department to evaluate specific issues with mosquitoes. I am planning on pursuing a master’s in research psychology, with a statistical analysis concentration.” –Skye C. Napolitano, Newcastle, Wyo., B.A., psychology


“I’m going back to work with a Kuwait oil company. It was a great journey, and I’m grateful for all my professors.” –Mohammad Alajeel, Kuwait, B.S., petroleum engineering


“After graduation, I will be traveling the United States until August, when I start a full-time position at PricewaterhouseCoopers in Denver, Colo.” –Benjamin Ireland, Gillette, Wyo., M.S., accounting


“After school, and after passing the bar exam, I will move back to Casper and practice law with my father at his practice. When I am practicing I will be doing estate planning, business planning, and some oil and gas law.” –Thomas Shanor, Casper, Wyo., J.D.


“After I graduate (before applying to graduate school), I plan to move to the Southern Hemisphere for a year to travel the eastern coast of Australia as well as Southeast Asia … to expand my knowledge of other cultures [and] enhance my competency in foreign policies and happenings.” –Samantha Yoder, Jackson, Wyo., B.A., Spanish, and B.S.W.


“After graduation I will be … working for Union Pacific, starting in the corporate audit department. … I would not have gotten this far without the help and support of the faculty, staff and students in the UW College of Business.” –Hannah Mae Peterson, Fort Collins, Colo., B.S., accounting
