The McNamees and their relations are practically a University of Wyoming dynasty, with approximately 45 family members who have attended UW. Chase McNamee of Shoshoni, Wyo., is studying for his master’s degree in counseling after receiving his bachelor’s degree in history. He serves as a student engagement graduate assistant heading up the UW Alumni Association’s WYO-Gold student organization and as an admissions student ambassador.
“There’s no doubt I came to the best university,” he says. “I was able to get involved and do a bunch of different things and find work experience.” McNamee was an Associated Students of UW senator, played intramural sports and volunteered with the United Multicultural Council.
“I’m currently the supervisor for our WYO-Gold Student Alumni Association,” he says. “We work with students now so that they’ll feel connected when they graduate. The organization encompasses what UW is—pride, service and cowboy leadership.”
After McNamee graduates, he plans on staying connected. “Even if I’m not here, I want to try to get involved with alumni networks. I want to support scholarships and give back as much as I can in that way. I will continue to spread the word about the university and tell people that the education you get here for the price is one of the best in the nation.”
