On July 1, 2024, the Civics Ed Center was launched through a collaboration between the Wyoming Department of Education and the University of Wyoming Wallop Civic Engagement Program. The project marks the completion of a goal within the Develop Citizenship for Students initiative in Superintendent Degenfelder’s WDE Strategic Plan.
Nine University of Wyoming faculty members recently completed the inaugural Community Engage Faculty Institute program, designed to align with UW's recent Carnegie Foundation designation as a "community engaged" campus. the institute provides faculty with a road map to create or redesign courses that integrate service learning and community engagement at UW. The Office of Community Engagement, Malcolm Wallop Civic Engagement Program, Stewart Family Enrichment Fund, and Service, Leadership and Community Engagement office (SLCE) helped coordinate the program.
Across 2023, the Wallop Civic Engagement Program has partnered with the Heart Mountain Wyoming Foundation to make the foundation's multimedia resources available to Wyoming social studies and English language arts teachers.
On March 4th, 2022, the University of Wyoming Wallop Civic Engagement Program K-12 Project Team and Trustees Education Initiative (TEI) led the National Network for Educational Renewal (NNER) First Thursday webinar. This webinar focused on bringing civic engagement back into classrooms along with a focus on cross-college collaboration.
