The meeting opened with a welcome from WYNDD Director, Dr. Gary Beauvais. Opening remarks were provided by UW Vice President for Research and Economic Development, Dr. Edmund Synakowski, and Joe Budd, Policy Advisor to Governor Mark Gordon. Dr. Beauvais followed with a review of WYNDD’s mission, an introduction of WYNDD staff, and an update on WYNDD’s budget status. WYNDD’s Information Systems and Services (ISS) Coordinator, Mark Andersen, provided an update on progress and priorities for the ISS team at WYNDD, and rolled out two new web applications: the Wyoming Field Guide (https://fieldguide.wyndd.org/), and the Wyoming Species List (https://wyndd.org/species_list/). WYNDD biological program leads then provided an update on recent projects and core work within their programs.
The afternoon featured updates relating to policy directives, major projects, and information needs of many of WYNDD's agency partners, including the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, U.S. Forest Service Regions 2 and 4, Wyoming Game and Fish Department, and the National Park Service. The meeting concluded with a social mixer in downtown Laramie, which provided time for causal interaction and conversation among meeting participants.
