WSVL Director/Professor

The WSVL Director is responsible for providing leadership and oversight of veterinary diagnostic services. The Director will also contribute to other departmental activities that could include diagnostic veterinary service, teaching, and/or research as best suits the candidate.

Undergraduate Laboratory Aide

The WSVL is hiring undergraduate students to work in our diagnostic labs as laboratory aides. Students in any major may apply but preference will be given to science majors. Interested students should submit a cover letter and resume to Corie Owen, cowen4@uwyo.edu.

Veterinary Virologist/Assistant of Associate Professor

The Department of Veterinary Sciences at the University of Wyoming (UW) welcomes applications for one Veterinary Virologist position at the Assistant or Associate tenure-track level. Job duties will include diagnostic service (50%) along with engagement in research and/or teaching at the undergraduate/graduate level. Research can be independent and/or collaborative in veterinary virology and/or make creative use of case submissions through the Wyoming State Veterinary Laboratory to enhance the knowledge of viral diseases in animals. Teaching duties include one three-credit hour course in basic principles of virology with emphasis on viruses causing human and animal disease. Additional opportunities to participate as a guest lecturer in other courses and/or in graduate education and mentoring graduate students are available. Capacity to serve as the faculty supervisor for the virology section of the WSVL is a vital role. The selected candidate will have opportunities to mentor veterinary student externs and collaborate with a vibrant community of basic, and applied scientists within the Department and across the University.

Veterinary Bacteriologist/Assistant of Associate Professor

Laboratory Technician III

Manage the operations of a designated laboratory; perform advanced diagnostic/research tests and services with complex analysis and interpretation of data; teach lab classes; train and supervise undergraduate and graduate students. The hired person will be responsible for performing advanced laboratory testing for the purposes of the diagnosis of disease in livestock, wildlife, and companion animals. Primary responsibilities will be in the areas of bacteriology and clinical pathology. They will be responsible for managing parts of these laboratory operations, and for training and supervision of undergraduate student workers.

Office Associate, Senior

Perform complex administrative/management support tasks with discretionary authority; independently make decisions that substantially impact operations within and outside designated unit/program; administratively supervise comprehensive office operations and support staff for department/unit. The hired person will be primarily responsible for providing administrative support for the Department of Veterinary Sciences, and the Wyoming State Veterinary Laboratory. Tasks will involve financial decision-making, require outstanding communication skills within a veterinary setting, and the ability to work with a number of software programs.
