Assistant/Associate/Full Professor, Veterinary Anatomic Pathologist
The Department of Veterinary Sciences at the University of Wyoming (UW) welcomes applications
for a Veterinary Anatomic Pathologist position at the Assistant, Associate or Full
Professor level; either tenure or clinical track, depending on the applicant's preference
and qualifications. Job duties include diagnostic service as well as research and
teaching activities.
The selected candidates will function as diagnostic pathologists alongside other board-certified
pathologists within the Wyoming State Veterinary Laboratory (WSVL). The diagnostic
workload is diverse and includes significant numbers of companion animal, livestock,
and wildlife cases. Anatomic pathology diagnostic duties include gross, and histopathological
examination on all veterinary species, as well as case coordination and communication
of laboratory results to clients. Tenure track candidates will have a research appointment
and teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels with flexibility in workload distribution.
There are opportunities to mentor veterinary student externs and collaborate with
a vibrant community of basic, clinical, and applied scientists within the Department
and across the University.
Research Scientist, Asst - Veterinary Science Biosafety and Biocontainment Manager
The position serves as Biosafety/Biocontainment Manager within the Department of Veterinary
Sciences and Wyoming State Veterinary Laboratory (WSVL), working with the UW Biosafety
Officer, UWBF Scientific Director, WSVL Director, and Departmental Head in developing,
implementing and managing a comprehensive Biosafety program, including training, record
keeping, and operations in support of the UW Biocontainment Facility (UWBF). This
position is critical to the safe and effective operation of the UW Biocontainment
Facility, which serves as a resource for research and diagnostics on some of the most
significant infectious diseases affecting animal and humans in this region. Operations
of the UWBF are highly regulated by the Centers for Disease Control and the Animal
and Plant Health Inspection Services-USDA under the Federal Select Agent Program (FSAP).
Laboratory Technician II or III - Virology
The hired person will be one of three virologists providing high quality, and timely
diagnostic services for the Virology Section within the Wyoming State Veterinary Laboratory.
The activity is essential to supporting the health of companion animals, livestock,
and wildlife in the state and region. Functions include but are not limited to the
following: perform advanced virology diagnostic tests and services and report to appropriate
stakeholders, maintaining laboratory equipment, and training/supervising student employees.
The position is available at the technician II and III levels. The search process
will identify a candidate that fits best with either the II or III level positions.
Undergraduate Laboratory Aide
The WSVL is hiring undergraduate students to work in our diagnostic labs as laboratory
aides. Students in any major may apply but preference will be given to science majors.
