1. DOCTOR OF PHILOSOPHY (Ph.D.) IN CIVIL ENGINEERING, RESEARCH ASSISTANT POSITIONS

Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Civil Engineering, Research Assistant positions are available within Dept. of Civil & Architectural Engineering, College of Engineering and Applied Science, the University of Wyoming to work in the general domain of  Construction Engineering and Management. 

The student’s research advisor will be Dr. Charlie Zhang. The work will be interdisciplinary by nature, possibly spanning over civil and construction engineering, data analytics, wearable technology, construction scheduling, safety, infrastructure management, computational intelligence, and spatiotemporal analysis and information management (GIS, Building Information Model, LiDAR).


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: 

  1. B.S. in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Remote Sensing and Geospatial Technologies, Computer Science, or related fields. 
  2. Minimum GPA: 3.0
  3. Graduate Record Exam (GRE): Minimum 150 Verbal, Minimum 148 Quantitative
  4. TOEFL Scores: Minimum 540 paper-based or 76 Internet-based, or IELTS: Minimum 6.5

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS: 

  1. M.S. in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Remote Sensing and Geospatial Technologies, Computer Science, or related fields.
  2. Interests and experiences related to three or more of the following academic areas:
    • GIS, LiDAR, and spatial analysis
    • Automation in construction and robotics
    • Programming
    • Quantitative analysis (Statistics and mathematical modeling)
    • Artificial Intelligence
    • Database and information management
    • Big data
    • Wearable technology
    • Construction scheduling
