Programs and Activities

On-going programs and activities hosted and sponsored by Cowboy Parents include:

• The Wyoming Family e-newsletter, keeping you informed on need-to-know student and university issues
• A UW Calendar and Handbook for Parents, providing one-stop information on UW parent and student resources
• The Cowboy Parents Student Emergency Fund, source of immediate financial assistance to students in emergency situations
• The ASUW/Cowboy Parents Family Emergency Fund, source of immediate financial assistance to immediate family members of UW students in emergency situations
• For Parents, an e-newsletter for the parents of incoming freshmen
• James C. Hurst "Each Student--A Person" Award, honoring faculty and staff who are exceptional in creating a caring community for UW students
• Welcome Call Program, welcoming parents of incoming freshmen with an informal phone call from a Cowboy Parent member
• Cowboy Parents fall reception, parents and families can drop-in for refreshments, conversation with Cowboy Parents Council members and UW administrators, and to learn more about campus resources available to them during Summit/Freshman Move-In Weekend in August
• Family Weekend, an opportunity each fall to share in your student's UW experience

UW services:

• The DIA Shuttle, co-sponsored with other campus entities, to provide students with low-cost transportation to the Denver International Airport at key campus breaks and holidays. View www.uwyo.edu/saferide/shuttle/ for a schedule and more information.

Family Weekend Auction

At the 2012 Family Weekend, Cowboy Parents hosted a silent auction offering more than 50 items. The auction brought in $3,151 and was matched by a donation from President Buchanan and the Division of Student Affairs.
