Y’all Means All (YMA) is a University of Wyoming training program (formerly known as Safe Zone) with an objective of developing an inclusive network of trained individuals to create protected environments for the 2SLGBTQIAP+ community at the University of Wyoming and community of Laramie, Wyoming. YMA aims to educate individuals on issues related to the 2SLGBTQIAP+ community to reduce homophobia, transphobia and cisheterosexisim for all members across the sexual/romantic orientations, gender identities/expressions, and vast intersectional identities among marginalized/underrepresented communities. Through the completion of YMA training, participants will not only understand some basic terms and concepts related to 2SLGBTQIAP+ experiences but will also have the tools of what it means to be an active ally in the community to support the 2SLGBTQIAP+ community.
The completion of this training (2 hours for students, 3.5 hours for faculty/staff) and turning in the commitment statement, comes with an official YMA certificate & YMA sticker, to be hung or displayed in an office, place of work or at home, that indicates the holder is committed to being an active ally for 2SLGBTQIAP+ community members at UWYO and surrounding community. For faculty and staff at UWYO, it also comes with a two-year membership to be featured on the Multicultural Affairs & Poke Pride Center website on the Y’all Means All: Trained Faculty/Staff Network Directory.

Y’all Means All training was developed by the University of Wyoming Department of Multicultural Affairs & Poke Pride Center from Materials & Resources Provided by the Safe Zone Project
Various Safe Zone trainings have been around the University of Wyoming since the late 1990’s, which have been organized by various UWYO groups and programs:
Please note that Multicultural Affairs/the Poke Pride Center have changed the name from “Safe Zone” to “Y’all Means All” as a way for the training to not guarantee or not to define other’s definition of safety. Although we are using the tools, resources and history of the Safe Zone Project, our goal of this program is not to train individuals to be a safe space but instead focus on creating a network of individuals to have an increased knowledge and awareness of the 2SLGBTQIAP+ community. We are all in this together when it comes to working towards reducing homophobia, transphobia and cisheterosexim at UWYO, that’s why using the common western Cowpoke phrase, “Y’all Means All”, best accurately represents the scope of this training.
