School of Energy Resources Welcomes Sabrina Kaufman to Outreach Team

The School of Energy Resources (SER) welcomed Sabrina Kaufman to the outreach team in September.

A talented graphic artist and design professional, Kaufman will employ her creativity in support of the community outreach and engagement efforts for the research projects at SER. In particular, she will work with the research Centers of Excellence to assist with outreach deliverables and milestones on topics ranging from carbon management, carbon conversion, and advanced oil recovery to nuclear, hydrogen, and energy law and policy.

“I am excited about the opportunity to bring my skills and love for graphic design to SER,” says Kaufman. “This is a great opportunity to work in a new field and really become a content expert to engage with important Wyoming stakeholders. Working through an artistic medium, I hope to ensure that communities are learning about the exciting research being conducted here, and also fully appreciate what it means for their own futures.”

Sabrina Kaufman

Originally from Wheatland, Kaufman earned dual degrees from the University of Wyoming (UW) in 2017 with a B.S. in Computer Science and a B.A. in Graphic Design. During her undergraduate studies, Kaufman worked as an intern in SER’s 3D Visualization Center where she refined her technical abilities and learned new and innovative ways to interface with public audiences.

Since her time as a student, Kaufman has gained valuable experience coordinating with both internal and external entities to provide effective communication methods, and has cultivated a portfolio of visually impactful digital and physical graphics for diverse target audiences.

Having previously worked as a graphic designer at UW since 2019, Kaufman’s work has graced departments all over campus, including the Residence Life & Dining Services and the Center for Student Involvement and Leadership. Prior to her employment at UW, she worked for vertical farm company Plenty, tasked with both marketing directives and creating educational materials.

“In addition to being wildly talented and creative, Sabrina has the ability to convert very technical content into something that is both aesthetically pleasing and easy to understand for a non-technical audience,” says SER Director of Outreach Christine Reed. “We are so pleased to have Sabrina on board at SER. In the time she has been with us she has already made a substantial impact and we are looking forward to growing our engagement activities in Wyoming communities and improve our outreach materials with her assistance.”
