Alcohol Education Requirement

Did you know that 159,000 of today's first-year college students will drop out of school next year for alcohol or other drug-related reasons? At the University of Wyoming we are working proactively to prevent the misuse of alcohol through a comprehensive approach, which includes educating students about the effects of alcohol. This year, we are asking all incoming freshmen to complete Alcohol Edu for College, an online, non-opinionated alcohol education program.

Alcohol Edu for College is an interactive course designed for college students that uses science-based research to educate students about alcohol. It is used on over 450 college campuses across the nation. The goal of the program is to provide all incoming students with accurate information about alcohol and its effects so that they will be able to make informed decisions and learn the skills necessary to reduce or eliminate harm. The program is supportive of abstainers and also provides important information and skills to students who are drinkers or who are around drinkers.

For more information, including important deadlines and instructions on how your student can complete this requirement, please visit the following www.uwyo.edu/ucc/aware/alcohol-edu-for-freshman.html. If you have any questions, you may contact the AWARE Program at aware@uwyo.edu.
