Alumni News: 2012

Department of Theatre and Dance

Welcome to the 2012 edition of the Alumni News!

Feel free to use our handy online class notes feature to keep in touch, make contacts, or just find out who’s doing what and where, who’s moved, or who’s gotten hitched or started a family. Send us a note of your own to add to the next edition. We'd love to hear from you!

Check out news from other years:
1997-2001 | 2005 | 2008 | 2009 | 2010 | 2011 | 2012 | 2013

Avery, Ramsey,

I'm currently Supervising Art Director on the new STAR TREK sequel.  Did  MIRROR, MIRROR (with Julia Roberts) last fall and winter in Montreal.  Last  summer before that was doing, I almost hesitate to say it,  HAROLD AND KUMAR 3D CHRISTMAS, trying to make Detroit in the summer look like New York in the winter (did any producer look outside their window and SEE how many trees with green leaves there are in Detroit? Ah, tax credits.).  Also designed the last couple of CapriSun Disrespectoids spots and the current batch of Cialis commercials.  Sometime's life is so glamorous. (But on that last one got to work with an Oscar-winning DP, very cool.)  Recently turned down the offer to design the entirely new version of the Pirates of the Caribbean ride for Disneyland Shanghai.  Life is not only glamorous, but full of interesting choices.

Always willing to talk to students about LA and film.  Am going to be speaking on a panel at USITT this year if anyone from UW is going to be there.

Sweeney, K. Harrison,'01 Finished up "Girl From Hondo" with Breedlove '72 Films in Taos on my way back to LA in October.  Been making the rounds with my short film at Cheyenne Zombie Fest, FLIC Boulder, Ft. Collins Zombie Fest, the Might & Fright Fest with the Long Beach Comic & Horror Con, and Mockfest/Shockfest in Hollywood. Just shot a Papa Murphy's national commercial a little over a week ago.  Should be showing up online & during NFL/NBA games soon. Also just had a callback for the new voice of Fred Flintstone. Currently in talks with a rep from Lion's Gate Films to see about producing my script set in Wyoming. Hope all is well.  All my love to the University during its Ice Age.
