Use this page and instructions if you have or plan to recreated the current UW website look on your website outside of the Cascade CMS. UW is moving to a new Content Management Systems (CMS) in early 2023 and we will no longer be using Cascade starting at that time.
If you have copied and are using the source code from the current website, the images (ie. Apply Now ribbon, social media icons, navigation, etc.) and stylesheets will no longer be available.
An example of broken styling has been provided to demonstrate what impact this will have non-CMS sites.
Current UW Styling When Cascade CMS is Turned On
Broken Styling When Cascade CMS is Turned Off
This CMS migration impacts websites built outsides of the website in two phases, both of which site owners of non-CMS will need to take action.
First, you will need to update your branding using external files (header, footer, CSS etc.) Second, when they become available, you will need to update your site with the new global files header, footer and CSS to match the look at feel of UW's website post-migration. This will ensure your sites maintain a cohesive look at feel with the UW website and will also avoid any major disruptions when we transition away from Cascade CMS.
More details on the timing of these phases are outlined below.
We HIGHLY encourage site authors to act on Phase 1 immediately to avoid any issues of discontinued assets.
Upload Global HTML Files to Your Non-CMS Site
Timing: Immediately (prior to UW CMS Migration)
In addition to the stylesheets and images, we have created 3 HTML files for you to use in your header, navigation and footer. These files can be included in your existing files.
These files are ready to be included directly into your webpages with an included element depending upon your server. The path to the images and stylesheets is "uwim-current/filename" in the HTML pages. If the style and images do not appear as expected, you will want to update the path in the HTML files.
Match Your Non-CMS Site to the NEW global elements
Timing: Approximately Quarter 2 in 2023 (post-CMS migration)
Alongside our migration to Omni CMS (our new system), we will also be updating our global header and footer, along with new CSS files for non-CMS site owners to use. We do not yet have these files available for download and will not be able to provide them until we are fully migrated and live on our new CMS system.
The following elements will be changed and provided in new files to non-CMS site owners:
We anticipate these elements will be available for download and implementation sometime in early 2023 following our migration and we will attempt to communicate to identified non-CMS site owners as early as possible.
