We Are UW - SLCE Office Values

Responsibility: SLCE engages students in programs and experiences that provide opportunities to practice personal responsibility while considering how their decisions and behaviors impact those around them.

Community: SLCE takes an active and intentional role in building community on campus, locally, and globally. We acknowledge historical inequities in this work and equip students to build more just and equitable communities.

Respect: SLCE Provides opportunities for perspective-taking in order to build respect for the lived experiences of others. Through nonpartisan civil dialogue and education, we enable students to show positive regard for themselves, each other, and our interconnected communities.

Integrity: Through education and accountability, SLCE holds students to the values of honesty, honor, and respect for the truth in all of their actions.

Social consciousness: SLCE strives to increase students’ awareness and understanding of social issues within cultural and historical contexts. We provide students with the skills to challenge those whose actions may be harmful and/or diminish the worth of others, while equipping them to identify these ways of thinking in themselves and others. SLCE recognizes that respecting the dignity of every person is essential for creating and sustaining a flourishing community.
