ASUW First-Year Senate is the official student government for first-year students at the University of Wyoming. As a First-Year senator, you will work to make a difference in the student experience at the University of Wyoming through reviewing and recommending ASUW Student Senate legislative action and working with ASUW Senators and students-at-large on issues that affect campus life at the University of Wyoming.

ASUW First-Year Senate will also provide substantial and valuable networking opportunities. Through your work as a First-Year senator, you will connect and build meaningful relationships with students, faculty, administrators, and elected officials from across the state of Wyoming. These connections will aid you in bettering your experiences as a student at the University of Wyoming.

The First-Year Senate meets on Tuesdays at 5:15 PM in the ASUW Senate Chambers, located in the Wyoming Union.

Procedures

The Procedures committee will review all legislative actions affecting the First-Year Senate Constitution or any ASUW bills and resolutions regarding the ASUW Constitution, By-Laws, Rules and Procedures, and all working documents.

Programming

The Programming and Traditions Committee will be responsible for selecting and scheduling all special events for the First-Year Senate and will be responsible for planning and coordinating all campus-wide service projects, speakers, and other events.

Steering

The Steering Committee will direct all pieces of First-Year Senate and ASUW Legislation to the appropriate First-Year Senate committee, will track absences of First-Year Senators, will handle all disciplinary action (impeachment charges) within the First-Year Senate, and will assist in preparing all meeting agendas.

The Student Outreach and Policies Committee will be responsible for coordinating with individual students and student organizations to voice opinions and concerns regarding university policy, administration, or other issues associated with student life.
